Personal Description of Perpetua

Typograhy, Editorial Design, Photography 2013

Typeface: Perpetua

It is a classic serif typeface that show the characteristics of the inscription on a stone. It was made by Eric Gill in 1928. The Perpetua font is in Glyphic form which essentially means that the Glyphic is a typeface style that mimics the form of the inscription on the stone rather than being written on paper. The characteristics of Glyphic style is that it is in sharp form or a stubby that appears at the end of line, and thus this is the influence of the tool used to carve the character in a stone. Perpetua also gives the impression that is sharp and clear or in sophisticated form. I could feel the modern sensibility from this classic typeface-for example, 'b' and 'd' of the lower case form show a very concise shape and it has a more modern feel to it. Originally, it is accordion book.
